ORTHOPAEDIC SURGERY

Donnington Grove has an international reputation for orthopaedic surgery. Our surgeons have published and presented around the world on the results we have achieved. We are equipped to tackle the most serious “broken leg”, to treat a serious joint infection, or to perform “minimally invasive” surgery on joints or tendon sheaths.  

 

Much orthopaedic surgery is tackled in the standing sedated horse, and at Donnington Grove Equine we are pioneers of this. Over 50 horses undergo surgical repair of a fracture with screws every year in our hospital with 90% of these performed without a general anaesthetic. We also tackle arthroscopy in the standing sedated horse in some cases, as well as many simpler cases such as splint bone fragments or bone sequestra.
