MEDICINE
The internal medicine team at Donnington Grove provide investigation and treatment for a wide range of conditions. These include gastrointestinal disease (such as acute or recurrent colic, weight loss or diarrhoea), respiratory disease, cardiology, liver and kidney disease and neurological disorders as well as ophthalmology and dermatology cases.
Cases seen are either referred from within the first opinion side of the practice, or from other practices. The hospital is well equipped to deal with critically ill adult patients and foals, and this makes up a large part of the internal medicine caseload. Where necessary, these patients will receive round the clock care from the hospital team. All in-patients are routinely checked throughout the night, regardless of the reason for admission. The large on-site laboratory means that many tests can be run in-house with rapid results, which helps in the management of sick patients.
